Virtual and Remote Volunteering Options

Now more than ever is the time to come together and help any way we can! Here are some opportunities for people to volunteer from their homes. If you have any suggestions on how we can continue to serve the community, submit your ideas here: https://forms.gle/59VQfXoWz4yewbq59

In the meantime, here are some opportunities that may be of particular interest:

Where: Bookshare

The issue: Book Share offers thousands of books to people with reading disabilities. As an online volunteer you can either scan books to be added to the collection or edit books that have been scanned.

How you can help: Sign up to proofread some books.

Where: Be My Eyes

The issue: Be My Eyes is a free app that connects blind and low-vision people with sighted volunteers and company representatives for visual assistance through a live video call.

How you can help: Download the app (iOS and Android) and sign up to volunteer

Where: Jersey City Seniors

The issue: At a time when you may be feeling helpless and would like to lend a helping hand to members of our community, The New Jersey City University Center for Community Engagement is seeking virtual volunteer opportunities that the NJCU community can participate in to help flatten the curve. They have partnered with The City of Jersey City to aid in completing wellness calls to senior citizens in Jersey City.

How you can help: Assist our most vulnerable and volunteer to make wellness check calls to Jersey City seniors with the virtual call center. This is an ongoing effort from 9 AM to 9 PM. Please consider registering to join us in this important initiative. Click HERE to register online.
