In the meantime, here are some opportunities that may be of particular interest:

Where: Your Local Hospital!

The issue: With the pandemic in full swing, some hospitals are running out of face masks and other essential supplies for their staff.

How you can help: If you have a sewing machine and some spare time, consider helping by sewing some face masks yourself! Here is a youtube video from Atlantic Health teaching you how to do it.

If you are close to Drew, here is a list of hospitals accepting masks. But make sure you check in with your local hospitals and see what they need or if they are accepting masks before you go on a craft spree.

Donate needed medical supplies in the blue donation bins located 24/7 directly outside the main entrances of:

Donations are also being accepted at 200 American Road, Morris Plains, Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm and 435 South Street, Morristown from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

  • Brookdale Grayson View
  • 29 Grayson View Court, Selinsgrove, PA 17870
  • *or connect with your local nursing home or assisted living facilities*

The issue: Grayson View is looking for penpals for their residents. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, visitation has been stopped.

How you can help: Letters can be written to the attention of any resident and include your return address if they want to write back and forth. Skype, FaceTime, and/or Zoom capabilities may be available for face to face interactions.

Where: Red Cross

The issue: During times of disaster, the Red Cross utilizes digital volunteers to monitor online discussions to find people who need help, and to share important updates on social media. If you are active on Facebook and Twitter, this could be a great opportunity for you.

How you can help: Interested in becoming a Digital Volunteer for the American Red Cross, read through the requirements, description, and apply!
