CAREER DEVELOPMENT NEEDS OF FIRST-GENERATION STUDENTS

The National Association of Colleges and Employers in their 2016 journal identified several key career development needs of first-generation college students.  While first-gen students have many needs throughout their collegiate years, the article notes that the first 6 months are particularly critical because, “of orienting them to the college culture and establishing structural support, resources, and opportunities.”  It notes that students are frequently not aware of these resources.  Read the article.
