Virtual Volunteer Opportunities for Students!

Have you been worried about finding volunteer opportunities and haven’t been able to find in-person volunteering? The good news is that Valley Health has an opportunity for you. They are offering a safe alternative to in-person volunteering and to help you meet your requirements for service and volunteer hours, Valley Volunteer Resources is now offering virtual volunteer opportunities to keep students connected to service and learning from the safety of your home! Their “Learn & Serve Bingo Board” offers students hours of volunteering opportunities that they can complete virtually and at home. Opportunities are open to all students (near & far), you do not have to be an active volunteer to participate.  New opportunities will be made available frequently and information can be found on their website.If you are interested, check out their website here!

There are also virtual shadowing opportunities at Virtual Shadowing offer weekly programs that address the issues of decisions, the applications process, and real-life stories from practicing physicians who serve those in need of care. The meetings are conducted over Zoom. However, if the room fills up there is a YouTube live simulcast. Virtual Shadowing plans to bring in various medical professionals and is two hours of experience each week. You’ll get a certificate for the week after a short assessment at the end of the meeting. There are also online communities that are built to provide online emotional support. 7 Cups is an online community where thousands of volunteer listeners lend a friendly ear to those in need. Volunteers are trained to give emotional support over chat and are available 24/7. You can provide support and friendship in chat rooms and forums for many issues, like depression, anxiety, relationships, LGBTQ+, and more.
