Recombinant Nature is an exhibition of six artists whose work in photography and video constructs, deconstructs and displaces biological nature. Like recombinant DNA, formed in a laboratory of genetic material from multiple sources, the works in this exhibition reflect the manufacture, collage and alteration organic forms. Light, inherent in photography and photosynthesis, functions as a metaphor for life energy. The artists in this exhibition explore subversion of landscape, decay and regeneration.
