PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A FULL-TIME POSITION IN RESIDENCE AT EITHER THE FARM IN WESTERN MA, OR OUR TRANSITION HOUSE IN THE BOSTON AREA!
The Residential Volunteer position provides an excellent opportunity for you to help people living with mental illness in a direct and meaningful way. The Residential team provides support for Guests in their off-work time: organizing activities, driving trips off-farm, assisting with activities of daily living, and most importantly, forming relationships with the people we serve. As a part of the team, you will have a chance to be a part of a progressive mental health recovery program that values community living and holistic healing. Some of our residential volunteers have an interest in eventually pursuing a graduate degree in social work, psychiatry, or other related fields. This position provides an opportunity to gain important experience that provides a context for future studies in this field.
Experience working with people and leading and directing the work of others is desirable. Must be able to sleep overnight in Guest residences. A valid driver’s license with a good driving record are essential. Training: Volunteers will receive training in Medication Administration, First Aid/CPR, and are provided with online courses in: Crisis Management, Therapeutic Boundaries, Psychosocial Rehabilitation and more.
