My name is Tyler Hill and I currently serve as a FocusFirst Team Lead for Impact America. Impact is a nonprofit organization with offices in AL, SC, and TN that hosts AmeriCorps members for a year of service after graduation and provides services across the Southeast. Team members work to mitigate the effects of poverty, while also gaining professional skills and a broadened perspective. Our Corps Members make a real impact — for instance, our team provided free, comprehensive vision screenings to over 67,000 preschoolers in the Southeast just last year! For more about the program, link HERE.
I wanted to make sure you had updated copies of our recruiting brochures for students. We hope you can help us get information to people who may be interested in community leadership opportunities, AmeriCorps service, or nonprofit work after graduation. We are currently recruiting students for our July/August 2021 start date. Students can easily apply using this link. If a student has any questions about the hiring process or about AmeriCorps, please tell them to reach out to Grace Standridge (firstname.lastname@example.org), Impact America’s Recruitment Manager.
About Impact America/FAQ
Many young adults graduate college with a drive to change their world and learn the best ways to support
under-resourced communities. Impact America provides an opportunity for recent graduates to engage
with their communities in a meaningful way, broadening their perspectives and making a real impact.
Individuals who serve as a Corps Member with Impact America spend a year of service after graduation
at a nationally recognized organization working to mitigate the effects of poverty, while also gaining
professional experience and a broadened perspective.
Impact America engages recent graduates and college students to address community needs,
empowering a generation through collaborative efforts to promote change in the communities we serve.
We have three locations across the Southeast: Birmingham (AL), Memphis (TN), and Greenville (SC).
What do we look for in applicants?
We look for applicants that have a strong desire to serve others. A student’s major is not as important as
their previous volunteer experience. Our program is a wonderful bridge year for students who plan to
attend graduate, medical, or law school. It is also a great option for students who want to gain
professional experience, while serving their community.
Does an applicant have to have any previous relevant experience?
No. We provide comprehensive in-house training for all of our members.
All of our positions come with a living stipend, an education award (which can be used towards existing
student loans or future tuition costs), no-cost health insurance, plus other benefits.
How to apply?
Interested applicants can view our current openings and complete a short application by going to our
website: https://impactamerica.com/corps/. All an applicant needs are their resume and unofficial
transcript. We are currently accepting applications for our AL and TN teams. The start date for these
positions will be July/August 2021.
