About NETWORK:

A national network of social justice advocates, and the organization behind Nuns on the Bus, NETWORK educates, organizes and lobbies for economic and social transformation. Founded in 1971 by Catholic sisters in the progressive spirit of Vatican II, NETWORK works to “Mend the Gaps” in income and wealth disparity and works to create a society and economy of inclusion.

We value women’s leadership, we appreciate people from religious and secular backgrounds, we affirm members of the LGBTQ+ community, and we engage in the ongoing work to become a multicultural anti-racist organization.

Why this position matters:

NETWORK Associates analyze public policy from the perspective of Catholic Social Justice, advocate for social justice in federal legislation, and contribute to the many operational aspects of a nonprofit professional advocacy organization.

What you’ll be doing:

Associates take on specific federal-level issues, learn about them in depth, conduct research, and create materials for NETWORK’s advocacy work. If you are assigned to our Communications Team, you will create, edit, and disseminate various media — factsheets, toolkits, talking points, backgrounders, social media, graphics, blogs, emails, webpages, and more — to effectively advocate for NETWORK’s policy agenda to different audiences. If you are assigned to our Government Relations Team, you will track our legislative efforts, represent NETWORK at lobby visits on Capitol Hill, collaborate with other teams to inform and mobilize our grassroots activists on your issues, and participate in coalition meetings to create strategy and build clout.

What it’s like working at NETWORK:

Rooted in Catholic Social Justice, NETWORK is open to all who share our passion for justice. Staff and members are people from a variety of religious and nonreligious backgrounds. As an organization and workplace, NETWORK values work-life balance and strives to be a supportive workplace environment where staff embrace the “Sister-Spirit” of our foundresses by rooting our understanding in encounter, not ideology; prioritizing the well-being of others; seeing everyone as people first, not just roles; and using humor and being feisty in order to be bold and willing to do the unpopular. Compensation:

  • $28,600 stipend
  • $100 commute benefit each month
  • Two weeks (10 days) paid vacation
  • Two personal days
  • Twelve sick days a year
  • Platinum health and dental plan – no deductions from your paychecks unless you choose higher coverage
  • One-on-one mentorship
  • Professional and spiritual development
  • Free access to gym in building
  • Automatic $100,000 life insurance policy
  • Possible student loan deferral
