Thrive Residency is an accredited, integrative, 10-mo Christian ministry training program for college graduates who sense that God is calling them into pastoral or non-profit leadership.

Website: www.ThriveResidency.com

Director: Neil R. Anderson

Location: Knoxville, TN

Our Mission

To provide postgraduate aspiring pastors and non-profit leaders with graduate-level education, mentoring, and ministry employment in an intensive, short-term residency environment that deepens their personal, spiritual, vocational, and leadership development, and equips them to discern and respond to God’s will for their life and ministry.

Cohort Experience

Thrive Residency cohorts are comprised of 12 student residents (6 men, 6 women) living rent-free in a 6-BR, 2-story home, engaging in an integrative 10-month experience of communal living and learning, ministry training and employment, biblical and theological education, mentoring, community, service, and missions.

Employment

Through our network of local churches and non-profit ministry partners, we match each Thrive Resident with a 4-day/week ministry job that significantly aligns with their vocational heartbeat (ex. pastoring, teaching, worship, service, missions, urban/at-risk, youth/kids, etc). Residents are compensated $1,000 monthly for their ministry employment.

Study

Residents devote 1-day weekly to graduate-level theological education and practical ministry training in a classical, roundtable learning environment. Residents are taught by some of the most experienced, faithful, and relevant professors, pastors, and leaders in Knoxville. Courses and topics include: Bible and theology, worldviews, identity and spiritual formation, soul care, pastoral care and counseling, organizational leadership, ministry best practices, social justice/racial issues, fundraising/development, and more!

Community

Residents live rent-free in a 6-BR, 2-story home across from Thrive Lonsdale (our sponsor), an at-risk kids and family ministry located 2-mi NW of downtown Knoxville, which contributes to the Residents’ exposure to real life, needs, and ministry in the city. The Resident home is uniquely designed for our program. Female and male residents have their own floor with separate entry. Each floor has its own kitchen, bathroom, dining, and living areas. Residents abide by house rules and covenants to ensure a living experience that is filled with integrity.

Salary & Benefits

$1,000/mo plus free rent, utilities, internet, and more.
