Full-Time Job, Part-Time Job Expires September 30, 2021

Make a positive impact as a Consular Fellow using your language proficiency in Mandarin and Portuguese.

Working in U.S. embassies and consulates around the world, this public service opportunity allows Consular Fellows to experience new cultures while making a difference in the world. We are looking for motivated, culturally aware, adaptable problem-solvers who have sound judgment and strong customer service skills and can retain their composure during stressful circumstances.

On the front lines of diplomacy, Consular Fellows adjudicate visa applications of foreign citizens seeking to come to the United States to visit, study, and work, and assist U.S. citizens traveling or living abroad. Fellows work to prevent fraud, combat trafficking in persons, and protect U.S. border security, which directly supports the Department of State’s mission to provide overseas consular services that protect U.S. citizens, ensure U.S. national security, facilitate the entry of legitimate travelers, and foster economic growth at home.

Fellows have the opportunity to experience life in the Foreign Service and try out the career; the program is a limited non-career appointment of up to five years. Working together with dedicated professionals, this public service opportunity provides valuable professional experience where you will develop and apply a wide range of skills, from managing resources to conducting public outreach.

For more information on the Consular Fellows Program, please visit our careers site.

U.S. citizenship is required. An equal opportunity employer.
